Hematology is a branch of medicine concerning the study of blood, the blood-forming
organs, and blood diseases. Hematology is often combined with other disciplines
to diagnose and treat diseases where the blood is involved. Hematology care comes
in when symptoms or tests indicate anemia, blood clotting disease, blood count irregularities,
or platelet irregularities. Hematology includes the study of etiology, diagnosis,
treatment, prognosis, and prevention of blood diseases that affect the production
of blood and its components, such as blood cells, hemoglobin, blood proteins, and
the mechanism of coagulation
